Steve Murray, Pastor

Email: steve@stmattumc.org

Pastor Steve Murray has served St. Matthews United Methodist Church since 1986. He is a graduate of Gordon College in Wenham, MA and of Boston University School of Theology. He is married to a wonderful woman named Nicole and has two great sons - Christopher and Samuel. If you want to drop him a note, feel free to e-mail him.

Under his pastoral leadership St. Matthews United Methodist Church in Sandown has grown from approximately 50 in worship to over 300 on an average Sunday. During that time, the church has twice purchased additional property for expansion, has finished its second classroom addition and started a satellite church in Plaistow called The Rock. Now our sister church, The Rock, is growing very fast. Started in October of 2000 it already averages almost 200 every week.

Steve is a gifted preacher, teacher and leader. He is a published author in the area of church growth, and in the use of the internet for ministry. But most importantly, he has a love for Christ and for people. This shines through in all he does. He has built his ministry on two key passages of Scripture:

“Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength. . .and love your neighbor as yourself” Mark 12:30

“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing then in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit” Matt. 28:19

Worship is at the heart of what we do. As you will see, we now offer two distinctly different worship services at St. Matthews and now two more at The Rock. We do this to offer choices in both time and style to better meet the needs of our communities.

We would actually encourage you to check out each of these services to decide which style best fits your needs for worship.

We hope you will join us this Sunday as we celebrate together in joyful, Christ centered, worship and praise.
