St Matthews offers music ministry opportunities for all
ages. There are four choirs, one for every age group.
JAM- Our youngest singers begin in JAM (Jesus and Me)
at the age of 4 through 1st grade. They rehearse every Sunday
immediately following their Promise Land class at 11:00. They
sing on the 4th Sunday of every month. This awesome group of
pre-schoolers is led by Kathy St Germain.
M4P- M4 P is our choir for kids in grade 2 through
6. M4P rehearses every Thursday night, from 6:45 to 7:30 pm (except
during school vacation weeks). M4P sings in the 8:45 worship
service at St Matts on the 2nd and 4th Sundays of each month.
M4P will be directed by Elayne Gleason, assisted by Beth Soucise.
Rehearsals start with some worship music and prayer time. Some
weeks we might play games or do activities related to the music
we are singing (some days there are even prizes involved). Every
member will receive a practice CD to practice with at home.
There are a lot of activities that you can be involved in during
the school year and sometimes it is hard to know which to join.
By being a part of M4P, you can make friends with other kids
who have similar beliefs as you do, you will grow in your understanding
of God and how much He loves you, you will be involved in an
activity that really makes God smile
.. He loves
it when we worship Him !
SHE- Senior High Ensemble is our group of High School
singers. Including some 8th graders, this group includes all
high school grades. They rehearse every Thursday evening from
6:45 - 7:30 and sing one Sunday a month. Along with their music
they are also involved in a study on worship.
This group is led by Beth Soucise
Adult Choir - Our Adult Choir(s) is really a blending
of the Adult Choir from each of our sites: St Matthews and The
Rock. We rehearse together every Thursday evening from 7:30-9:30
and each choir commits to leading worship at their home church
2 Sundays a month and also one Sunday at the other site. This
choir is for college-age and up.
Part of the success of this choir and it's ministry is the
process of studying what God's word has to say about worship
and what our role as worship leader should be. The role of the
choir is to lead worship; not entertain. Our goal is for those
who are worshipping with us to enter into the presence of the
Lord, using the music as the resource. |
