Help Rebuild Word of Life Church in Bastrop, TX

In September of 2011, there was a horrific forest fire in the area around Bastrop, TX. Millions of dollars worth of property and thousands of acres were destroyed. Among the victims of the fire was the Word of Life Community Church, which sat in the woods about 4 miles east of Bastrop. Located immediately beside the church was the home of Pastors Mike and Debbie Vega, whose house was also destroyed. Although the Vegas were blessed with no serious injuries to their family or their congregation, they saw much of their life's work literally go up in smoke. Their house and church was destroyed but their spirit was not broken.

Volunteers from the First United Methodist Church in Bryan, TX and the Rock Church Ministries in Sandown, NH, will come together on February 25, 2012 to begin rebuilding the home of Pastors Mike and Debbie Vega. Once in their home, the Vega's can continue to minister to the people around Bastrop and build their membership while worshipping in temporary facilities. Phase II of the project will include building a new permanent worship facility where the old facility once stood.
